Procalcitonin and Adrenomedullin in Infectious Diseases

چکیده
Calcitonin (CT) and adrenomedullin (ADM) are members of the CT family. Procalcitonin (PCT) is a prohormone CT. Elevations in serum PCT ADM levels associated with severe sepsis coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). enhances mortality it binds to CGRP receptor, which heterodimer receptor-like receptor activity-modifying protein 1. The N-terminal truncated form PCT, PCT3-116, produced by cleavage dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) main during sepsis, inducing microvascular permeability. Mid-regional pro-adrenomedullin (MR-proADM) used instead as biological indicator because rapidly degraded, MR-proADM released at same rate ADM. reduces endothelial permeability promotes stability. Endothelial dysfunction responsible for multiple organ failure COVID-19 patients. Therefore, may be an important molecule improving severity COVID-19. This review focuses on current knowledge

Procalcitonin as a biomarker of infectious diseases
Traditional biomarkers, including C-reactive protein, leukocytes, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and clinical signs and symptoms, are not sufficiently sensitive or specific enough to guide treatment decisions in infectious febrile diseases. Procalcitonin (PCT) is synthesized by a large number of tissues and organs in response to invasion by pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and some parasites. A gro...

متن کاملAdrenomedullin and cardiovascular diseases
The cardiovascular system is regulated by the autonomic nervous system, the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, nitric oxide (NO) and other factors including neuropeptides. Research in neurohumoral factors has led to the development of many cardiovascular drugs. Adrenomedullin (ADM), initially isolated from the adrenal gland, has diverse physiological and pathophysiological functions in the c...
متن کاملPlasma adrenomedullin in various diseases and exercise-induced change in adrenomedullin in healthy subjects.
Adrenomedullin is a novel hypotensive peptide recently discovered in human pheochromocytoma. In the present study, we measured the plasma immunoreactive adrenomedullin of healthy subjects and patients with various diseases. Immunoreactive adrenomedullin was found to circulate in blood of the healthy subjects at a considerable concentration (3.3 +/- 0.3 fmol/ml). Plasma adrenomedullin was signif...

INTRODUCTION Except skin, the respiratory tract is the only human organ directly affected by (indoor) air. Therefore it is understandable, that all pollutants from the air can evoke any trouble especially in susceptible people. Microbiological contamination of any environment is common and also indoor air or environment is rich in different microbes and it doesn’t make too big difference if pat...
